How it works

  1. Choose your photo. It opens on your own device and is not sent anywhere.
  2. The tool finds the best JPG quality that stays under 50KB, and only shrinks the pixel size if quality alone is not enough.
  3. If your form asks for exact pixels or a minimum size, open "More options". The photo is cropped from the centre to match the pixel size.

Tips for a 50KB limit

This is enough for a head-and-shoulders picture at the size forms display it. A picture that is already cropped usually keeps its pixel size. An untouched phone camera photo of several megabytes will be reduced in pixels as well as quality.

What fits in 50KB

A rough guide to the largest pixel size a photo can keep at 50KB. Plain backgrounds fit more pixels than busy ones. If yours is larger, the tool lowers the pixel size so it stays clean instead of turning blocky.

QualityLargest size
Sharp, holds up when zoomed in360 × 480 px
Clear, fine for most forms440 × 590 px
Acceptable when shown small620 × 830 px

Getting a clear photo at a small size

Start from a sharp, well-lit picture against a plain background, and crop close to the head and shoulders before resizing. Less background means more of the allowed size is spent on your face.

Questions

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. All the work happens inside your browser. The file never leaves your phone or computer.

My form asks for a size between two numbers. Will this work?

Yes. Open "More options" and type the lower number as the minimum size. The result normally lands just under your limit anyway, and if the picture alone comes out below the minimum, the file is padded up to it without changing how it looks.

What format is the result?

JPG (also written JPEG), which is what almost every application form accepts. PNG and WebP pictures are converted for you.

Will the photo look blurry?

The tool keeps the highest quality that fits under your limit. A very small limit on a large, detailed picture will lose some sharpness.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. It works in the browser on Android and iPhone, with nothing to install.
